Ratatouille: Come and Get It!

RatatouilleOh yes! There is nothing better than something really tasty to eat and something really great to watch. The combination of the appeasement of these two senses is of vital importance to me and once the two are satiated, I’m one happy person. Some films are so great that they make you forget what is happening in your world because they pull you into theirs.

Ratatouille

Ratatouille is one such film that totally gets you going! Not only is it a visual treat, but the yummy dialogues get you going and the filling storyline just about makes you bust your seams. This animated flick is about a rat named Remy (Patton Oswalt), who scrounges around in the French countryside to riffle through garbage and fill his stomach with rubbish. Though he is very happy with his family, he can’t help but want a better life with better food. One day chance leads him to chef Gusteau’s (Brad Garrett) kitchen. He is one of the best chefs in town and his restaurant is thriving in business. A stinking review by one of the town’s leading food critics forces the master chef to make some changes. One of them is the appointment of Skinner (Ian Holm) as his head chef. Sadly, Skinner is not a man of great culinary taste and wants to infuse the trend of American microwave meals in the French countryside. One day a garbage boy Linguini (Lou Romano) unwittingly spoils the soup for the day and his fate is nearly sealed when Remy comes to the rescue and the soup becomes a runaway hit! The boy and the rat strike a deal wherein the rat helps the boy make great food by hiding under his chef’s hat and in return gets to take home delicacies for his family. But sadly, this charade can’t go on for too long. A true Disney movie, this too ends in triumph of the good over the evil.

Ratatouille

When talking about the movie, it becomes essential to mention the superb visual effects created. A lot of attention has been paid to the minutest of detailing in the animated food and it all looks so real and delicious, you half expect it to pop out of the screen and into your mouth. Also, the spectacular views of Paris are a complete new high for animators-it has been done with so much of precision.

Ratatouille

The actors are not big names like Shrek or Shark Tale. But that hardly seems to matter because they have all done a brilliant job. Oswalt is mind blowing as Remy and is definitely the show stealer. All of them have done excellent and natural work.

So if you are reading this review, I strongly recommend that you watch this mouth watering movie, but before you enter the movie hall, be sure to stack up on some goodies as this movie will have you drooling otherwise!
