Mumbai, April 23, 2008: After the euphoric first season, Comedy Circus is back with loads of rib tickling gags and excellent line up of stand up comedy acts in its second season. Eight renowned stand up comedians from India and Pakistan have been paired with Indian television’s most loved & adored characters to give viewers loads of laughter & fun. So hold on to your chairs and tighten your seat belts as Comedy Circus – II is coming to your television screens starting April 26, every Saturday at 10.00 p.m. only on Sony Entertainment Television.

Comedy Circus is a unique reality-based comedy format show that brings together celebrities to perform with professional comedian partners on a highly competitive stage. The show will see 8 popular television actors teaming up to get trained under 8 well-known stand–up comedians and together they will make the viewers laugh like never before. The contestants will perform before a live studio audience and millions of viewers across the country.

The themes this season are inspired by Bollywood, an all time favorite topic for stand up comedians, costume dramas, art of dubbing, India’s favorite game cricket, singing, thanks to all the reality singing shows, gender ’swapping’…and many other interesting themes that will become a part of the gags and acts. One of the highlights of this season is Shakeel. Look out for the ace stand up artist in a new role as “Shana Shakkel”!

Performing on this show will be some of India’s favourite television celebrities - Abhishek (Krushna) Sharma, Sayantani Ghosh, Sucheta Khanna, Apara Mehta, Aakashdeep Saigal, Kamya Punjabi, Rajesh Kumar, Chitrashi Rawat—who will team up with well-known stand–up comedians like Sudesh Lahiri, Kuldeep Dubey, Salim Afridi, Shailesh Lodha, Parvez Siddiqui, Rajeev Thakur, Rajiv Nigam and Rehman Khan to leave you in splits with their funny one-liners and gags. For those who have watched these celebrities sing, dance and cry… now watch them reverse their roles in the new laugh riot Comedy Circus – II.

These unusual Jodis will compete for the top position of Comedy Circus II over 20 weeks. Every week the judges and the studio audiences will nominate 2 of the weakest Jodis, one of whom will be voted out by the remaining participants themselves, until the announcement of the ultimate Jodi.

The panel of two judges consists of famous character actor-cum-comedian Satish Shah and the vibrant and peppy Archana Puran Singh! The host is the bubbly and cheerful Shruti Sheth who will be instrumental in motivating and encouraging the Jodis week after week.
