Koffee with Karan: A Table for four, please

Farah Khan, Deepika Padukone, Shahrukh KhanThis season of Koffee with Karan is definitely piping hot. After a wonderful display of the crème de la crème of Bollywood, the show has become a hot ticket for those fighting to get to the top as well as those fighting to remain there. After having some really great and TRP boosting guests, Karan once again goes for the jackpot with the team of Om Shanti Om.

Though it is releasing only in November, the promotions for the film are quite vigorous. Farah is taking no chances as she knows that she has a lot to live up to after her first super hit. Coming on the show with the lead pair of the film is as good as getting hundreds of trailers aired on TV. We saw Shahrukh and Farah, both of whom seem to the most regular guests on Karan’s list, with debutante Deepika Padukone for company. Expectedly, it was a one of the most entertaining episodes of the season.

Shahrukh came on the show, for at least the fourth time, looking great with his cool new hairdo and looked ridiculously fit and toned up. Can you believe the muscles he seems to have sprouted overnight? But what ever be the case, he looked absolutely in his element in his casual, but fitting attire and was a pleasure to watch. Farah, also appearing on the show for the fourth time, was her usual self. Her black, classy ensemble did nothing to cover up her true personality, which was a delight to watch on screen. Deepika looked primed and glossed to within an inch of herself, but personally, I think the flaming fire engine red dress was not the right choice for her.

Quite predictably, Karan, Farah and Shahrukh, who share a lot, were completely at ease in each other’s company and the camaraderie was so infectious that it seemed like they were actually old friends catching up over a cup of coffee - the camera be damned. They ended up reminiscing about the good old days when they worked on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The jokes and funny incidents that came to light were indeed hilarious.

When asked about the sudden change in image, Shahrukh gave all the credit to his son. You see, it seems that Aryan had to beat up a girl for calling his dad fat! After standing up for him, the feisty lad gave his poor dad a good piece of his mind because he did not think the girl was wrong. And that, my dear friends, is the story of how Shahrukh went the health buff way.

Quite a lot was spoken about Om Shanti Om. If you are wondering why Deepika Padukone has not been mentioned too many times in this write up, well, its because she didn’t do much except sit there smiling pretty and coming up with clichéd and automatic answers to probing questions. But one can’t really blame her, considering the poor gal was in between big wigs with a past.

After a wonderful rapid fire, we got to see something even more amusing- the KWK team got various people to belt out their rendition of the title track of Om Shanti Om and boy, was it funny!

All in all, complete entertainment and an hour long laugh riot.
