Indian film Before the Rains bags best Theatrical Feature!
Yet another Indian filmmaker astonishes the world. Santosh Sivan, one of the most prominent cinematographer and filmmaker of Bollywood made his debut in international cinema with English film Before the Rains. The movie not only got huge critical appreciation but left others behind and was awarded with the 41st Annual World Fest 2008 Grand REMI Awards for best film. Made under Excalibur Pictures, Before The Rains stars Rahul Bose, Nandita Das, Linus Roach, Leopold Benedict and Jennifer Ehle.
Awarded with the best Theatrical Feature, Before the Rains is about a man strangled between his honesty and ambitions. This periodical film is set in 1937’s colonial period and depicts the period in which plantation of tea and spices became a chief fancy for the British rule. At the World Fest, the film was taken up as the opening night premiere.
