Speed, directed by Vikram Bhatt has all the elements of a thriller, but not executed well enough. The story is clearly inspired by two Hollywood films, Phone Booth and Cellular, but lacks their fast pace and a cohesive story line. No attempt is made to disguise this plagiarism or add some originality, except for a few dull songs, none of which are memorable. London forms the background of the movie, but no attempt is made to portray it differently in the movie. (more…)

If you were waiting for another thriller this week, you are surely going to be disappointed. Speed, the latest release is all but another flop from Vikram Bhatt. The movie fails to impress even the simple audience because of a series of flaws including the poor script, impromptu direction, below-average acting, and a mixture of plots. Though the movie is supposed to follow the main plot, i.e., the kidnapping of Urmila Matondkar, there are other two plots in the movie that get intertwined with the main plot. Boney Kapoor has just returned after almost a month and a half abroad. Back in Mumbai he’s ready to shoot Wanted Dead And Alive with Salman Khan, Ayesha Takia and Aseem Merchant. But the surprising aspect of Boney’s production plans is Satish Kaushik who has split professionally with Boney’s brother Anil Kapoor to join hands with Anupam Kher and create their own production house.
