‘Well done, Vivek Agnihotri’ is the comment that would come out when you watch the movie Goal. This is one more sports movie after Lagaan, Iqbal and Chak-de. Goal is all about football and the discrimination of Asians in England. Arshad Warsi has played the captain of the Southhall football team of Southhall United Club. Boman Irani (Tony Singh) comes to coach this team to win the trophy, but he finds that there is lack of sense and team spirit among the team members. He decided to involve John Abraham (Sunny) who currently played for rebel team. The movie is all about how Tony convinces Sunny and how they manage to win the trophy. The music of the movie is nicely carried out by Pritam and he used John and Bipasha off-screen chemistry very well in the music. The song ‘Billo Rani’ rocks to some extent and a few more numbers also does well in the music charts. The role of Arshad warsi as a team captain who tried to hold the team together is not very impressive. Similarly, Bipasha as physiotherapist has got limited appearance. Vivek Agnihotri captured the life of Asians in Britain very well. He added the real game shots and created a mood of true sports in the movie. Overall it is a good watch giving a signal that movies dealing with sports themes are here to stay in Bollywood. (more…)
Well, with the hype of the release of the two big films (Om Shanti Om and Saawariya), Bollywood went in a loop to thinking upon whether these films are doing good or not, which movie is doing a good business, and for which movie the public is going crazy, etc. Now it seems that all the rumors surrounding these young movies have come to a stop. Saawariya, as a debutant movie of the star-kids of the big Bollywood families, failed to recall the Bansali’s magic this time. We had the super movies such as the Black, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam that rocked the nation with full filmy spices and SOS at a time when there was no much scope for their promotion. However, the game is over now, and the Bollywood is aging with other hot happenings. With a collection of weekend gross of $1,764,131, OSO topped last week compared to Saawariya’s $542,192 collection. (more…)
Finally, the magical day arrived when the speculations about the release of two big banner movies ( Om Shanti Om and Saawariya) got over and media got a new job of calculating the ups and downs related to these movies all across the world. It seems that both the movies started well with 80 to 100% opening to them on Friday, but according to the rating of different media sources and the audience’ general response, OSO alone is likely to sweep the theaters across the world in the coming days. Saawariya did not rise up to the expectations of Sanjay Leela Bansali’s audience. (more…)

The last week was the celebration week for Bollywood. The release of the two movies ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Saawariya’ in fact threw an open fight in the popular theaters all over the world. Both the movies had created a sensation among the movie fans long before their release, and the theaters witnessed a flood for advance booking. Now, the wait is over; they are here, and there is a lot of fuss going on about the two movies. (more…)
If you were waiting for another thriller this week, you are surely going to be disappointed. Speed, the latest release is all but another flop from Vikram Bhatt. The movie fails to impress even the simple audience because of a series of flaws including the poor script, impromptu direction, below-average acting, and a mixture of plots. Though the movie is supposed to follow the main plot, i.e., the kidnapping of Urmila Matondkar, there are other two plots in the movie that get intertwined with the main plot. The first one is the love story between Zayed Khan and Tanushree, (more…)

Sift through the wannabes and desperate starlets, and you might find something of relevance. But who has the time to go through so much of trash?
