Akshaye is playing the role of a son in MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP and gets to yell at his on-screen father Paresh Rawal and discipline him. Akshaye Khanna says “There are many scenes with Pareshji where I yell at him and discipline him out of concern for him. It was a lot of fun. This film has situations where Pareshji gets into embarrassing situations and I, like a father, has to come to his rescue.”
Akshaye admits that Priyadarshan is avery good director who communicates the ideas and expectations clearly. Priyadarshan has contributed significantly to his career. “One doesn’t have to think twice before signing up with him. It’s always an offer you can’t refuse,” gushes Akshaye. Akshaye started his career with Priyadarshan’s Doli Sajake Rakhna in 1998, since then his career graph is climbing. He gave Hungama in 2003, Hulchul in 2004 and now it is time for another comedy MERE BAAP PEHLE AAP.
One more slapstick multi-starrrer, which was pronounced as a very good upcoming movie by most characters in Ekta Kapoor’s K branded serials (are these actors paid for advertisement also? Heights of slavery to boss!), says three two one and sorry, no blockbuster, the hit is a complete amiss. Kyon ki Ekta bhi kabhi Sis thi, oops hai! What kind of atonement for sibling rivalry is this? Pray accept my apologies but movies don’t sell solely on such propagandist stunts, it may work in the small screen, however I strongly have my doubts. Ashwani Dheer, who won accolades for television series Office Office which has every ingredient to makes your stomach hurt with laughing, couldn’t really live up to the mark. (more…)

Welcome comes with many expectations from Anees Bazmee whose last movie No Entry was a big hit. It has a superb cast boasting Anil Kapoor as a tapori don and Nana Patekar as a serious don yet again. Paresh Rawal as Akshay Kumar’s uncle is downright funny and excels at comedy. All these high performers ably carry what could have been a great movie on their shoulders. Avid movie buffs will find a lot of similarities between Welcome and the Hugh Grant starrer Mickey Blue Eyes, so much for Bollywood’s take on originality. (more…)
Bhool Bhulaiya is Priyadarshan’s latest offering on the occasion of Eid. It is not a comedy, as you may imagine, but a supernatural thriller. It has Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiny Ahuja and Amisha Patel in stellar roles. Along with them you see Rajpal Yadav and Paresh Rawal in important roles. Bhool Bhulaiya is the Hindi remake of the 1993 Malayalam hit, Manichitrathazhu. The music by Pritam is already rocking the charts, especially Hare Ram Hare Ram, featuring Akshay Kumar. Before I start with the review for the film, it must be said that I am extremely saddened by the level of cinema. There are those who have matured and create cinema with food for thought. Today, the average Indian too has the sensibility to separate class from crass. In this day and age, it is ridiculous for such a movie to be released, that too masquerading as a comedy for the masses. Let me assure you, this is not for the masses, unless masses stands for uncivilized, sex crazed American high school boys. (more…)
Be ready for a roller coaster laughter ride. Shemaroo Entertainment is glad to release yet another Firoz Nadiadwala’s comedy flick ‘Fool N Final’. After the popular Hera Pheri sequels, it is now time for Fool N Final’s rib tickling comedy. The cast of this film is a good mix of great comedians and fine actors like Paresh Rawal, Johny Lever, Asrani, Rajpal Yadav, Javed Jaffrey, Om Puri and Jackie Shroff among others, while Sunny Deol, Shahid Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi and Ayesha Takia form the lead cast of the film. Paresh Rawal and Johny Lever share a fantastic chemistry in the film like never before. The duo certainly makes audiences look forward, to some hilarious comical scenes. In retrospect, Johny Lever is seen after long on the silver screen and he once again seems to have satisfied his fans all over in Fool N Final. (more…)
