Halla BolAccording to Raj Kumar Santoshi, ‘Halla Bol’ is based on the late Safdar Hashmi, who fell victim to foul play of corrupt politician way back in 1989, while trying to do stage a street play with the same name ‘Halla Bol’. If you remember the Jessica Laal Murder, that called for justice and took long years before getting the criminals behind the bar, then this movie does the justice part a little too early. Even if not inspired, the film does have something to do with the screenplay. (more…)

Pankaj Kapur in The Blue UmbrellaI remember being lost in its world as a child- the wonderful world of the Blue Umbrella created by Ruskin Bond. As I grew up, other stories came and went and the umbrella gathered dust, in its very own corner of my mind. After ages, I remembered about it and expected it to be tattered and worn out. But to my utter pleasure, I saw it unfurl its magical and mesmerizing beauty as I opened it once again. (more…)

Dharm Movie Review

There goes a saying that the first film of a first time director is made up of mistakes that are to be rectified in the second film. But journalist turned first time director Bhawna Talwar has broken the jinx as the film shines like a proverbial star among the regular Bollywood potboilers. Since the film has already been premiered in Cannes Film Festival, this raised the expectation and curiosity quotient and it emerged a winner on both the counts. (more…)
