Mumbai, 12th Sep, 2008: While films across the languages are creating superheroes out of human beings, MAYA ENTERTAINMENTS is proud to bring RAM to the world in a new avatar, as a hero, a superhero who surpasses obstacles which was beyond any ordinary human. MAYA ENTERTAINMENT’S Ramayana-the Epic is based on the original Ramayana written by sage Valmiki. Ramayana was unveiled at a function held at Grand Hyatt on friday,12th sept 08 at a glittering event attended by Director Chetan Desai,Jai Natrajan, VP & Ronald D’Mello CEO Maya Ent along with Juhi Chawla, Ashutosh Rana, Manoj Bajpai, and Mukesh Rishi.
RAMAYANA –the Epic promises to bring to Indian screens global standards in animation seen so far only in International animation films. The film being directed by Chetan Desai has leading Bollywood personalities lending their rich voice to these mythological characters. Actress Juhi Chawla dubs for SITA, Manoj Bajpai lends voice to RAM’s character and Ashutosh Rana gives voice for RAVANA while Mukesh Rishi has given voice to the character of HANUMAN.
Director Chetan Desai aims to introduce RAM to the younger generation as the aspirational idol and the greatest superhero India has ever produced. Film Ramayana-the Epic presents Ramayana the way today’s younger generations would like to see, without tampering with its originality. It has larger than life backdrop of the grandeur from the era portrayed with a never before seen visual extravaganza of this high paced action packed story of heroism and bravery. It has contemporary music with state of art Sound effects.
Speaking on the occasion, Jai Natarajan, EVP - Business Development, MEL said, “We at Maya Entertainment had nurtured a vision – to showcase to Indians a high-end animation film that would appear real to the eyes. We worked with a lot of perseverance to achieve this vision and today it gives me immense pleasure to introduce to you Ramayana- the Epic.” Talking about the animation industry he added, “There is a boom in the animation industry and India has immense potential to encash it. In 2006, the animation industry was at Rs. 10.5 billion and is estimated to grow upto Rs. 40 Billion in the next three years. I am confident; this movie will usher in a new era in the Indian animation industry. Ramayana –the Epic will be ready by Dec 08 and we are looking at releasing it early next year”
The director of the film Chetan Desai spoke on the launch in an extremely enthusiastic way, “All of us have grown up reading or listening to one or the other mythological tale so somewhere in our minds we have adapted to such storytelling techniques.
Ramayana the Epic is the biggest a Legend can get, and to show this legend a canvas of extraordinary scale is necessary. We have tried to be historically accurate as much as possible to continue this heritage.
The animation rendered is far more superior to other films we have seen. This is the movie I wanted to make, This is the way I want to see this legend. The film has contemporary music with state of the art sound effects that today’s generation will relate to. I am positive each one will like this animated method of story telling.”

Give this film a chance. “Money Hai Toh Honey Hai” has a certain sincerity of purpose and a rather sturdy narrative that serves the comic purpose until interval. But that’s when the pace slackens, the interest-level droops and the chuckles drop drastically to make way for a touching and simple climax that tells us it’s okay to be ordinary and that living is about letting your dreams run free. Mumbai, July 18 (IANS) Manoj Bajpai got recognition in filmdom with Ram Gopal Varma’s “Satya”, but says he will never go back to his mentor. “You will never see me doing a film with him (Varma) again. The wound that he has given can never be healed,” Manoj told IANS. Varma gave Manoj a role in “Satya” after watching him in Shekhar Kapur’s “Bandit Queen”. But the two never got along well.
