The film has been mired in controversy; the reason being there was a dispute between the maker and an associate about the authenticity of the script. The associate, as you might know, claims that it has been stolen from him. I must admit, the story is rather original and is quite nice; off the beaten track. But the direction, sadly I can’t say the same for it. (more…)
Hey there! Great to see you again after such a long time. I know, I know; it’s been not more than a week, but it’s hard to be patient when there is much to discuss and talk about! After a rather tremulous week where a lot of our Bollywood junta has been on tenterhooks, it’s at least time for some to rejoice. Hold on! Wait for a while and you will be satiated with a wonderfully delicious serving of gossip and hot news. (more…)

Bobby Deol can be seen in an interesting role in director Samir Karnik’s film ‘Nanhe Jaisalmer’. He is playing the character of himself, that is, actor Bobby Deol in the film. Director Samir Karnik had made his debut with the film ‘Kyun…? Ho Gaya Na’ with Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and her then beau Viveik Oberoi. Nanhe Jaisalmer is his second movie. Bobby and his little co star Dwij Yadav (playing Nanhe in this film) were in Delhi at Hotel Oberoi recently to promote their soon to be released ‘Nanhe Jaisalmer’. (more…)
Well, another week has gone by and in between all the buildings falling and other calamities, we survived. After another arduous day of work it is unbelievably refreshing to log on the net and find something interesting. Truly, Bollywood stars go to no end to bring a smile on our faces and keep us happy. Is it not nice to know that someone out there is going through so much trouble to give us that 1 minute of thrill? (more…)
It’s unbelievable, actually. The amount of money that has been put behind the promotions of the movie Naqaab is simply astounding. Or the past two months, every time I switch the TV on, there is no way that I may miss the trailer of the movie. That got me sort of intrigued. They were making a big hue and cry about this amazing thriller that is going to rock everyone’s world. To intensify the mystery behind the story line and to tantalize the unsuspecting and let us admit, intrigued viewers, the movie promos have everyone looking like a killer. Plus they got themselves a really fancy name to boot - Naqaab. I guess it’s with all the masked heroes around - Spiderman, Kkrish… et all. You know, like a good luck charm. So I went along and saw the movie. (more…)
Urvashi Sharma and Bobby Deol both are Punjabis and they share this common connection with each other. Bobby everytime would greet Urvashi with a “Ki Haal Hain” - Urvashi said this used to add to her comfort level. She says, “Bobby is a real Punjabi at heart. His heart is as big as Punjab. Though I was making my debut he was so patient and helped me. He is an excellent human being, Even in one sequence which was not choreographed, Bobby literally showed me to dance free style. He was so encouraging. The Deols are true blue Punjabis. Everything about them reflects the spirit of Punjab. They looked so nice together in Apne. They are idolised in Punjab.” (more…)
When I first heard about the movie Apne being made with the Deol boys, I thought it would be another thrash-crash-boom film and a total waste of time and money. Dharmendra is old and gone. Though he did a good job in Metro, it is pretty hard to get a good role at his age. Sunny Deol only makes a fool of himself with movies like Fool and Final, Jo Bole So Nihaal and so on. Bobby, well, after a very dry patch, he must be eagerly awaiting the reviews for Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Apne. So all in all, the whole hype of having the Deol men in the same film would be about it. As I was thinking of a fitting title for this review, I couldn’t help but feel that the title of the film itself fits perfectly. This is an out and out Bollywood film with the requisite dance numbers and catchy tunes. So, the audience is constantly swaying to the music. Set mostly in London and Paris, this flick still holds a desi charm to it - at all times you can feel the Indian element present. This is a good thing that director Shaad Ali has managed to maintain.
