Mumbai, Aug 16 (IANS) Bollywood music director Bappi Lahiri had a memorable Raksha Bandhan Saturday with a group of physically and mentally challenged children. Lahiri and playback singer Shweta Pandit visited the children’s home run by Smita Thackeray’s Mukti Foundation to wish them on the occasion and get rakhis tied by the little girls there. (more…)
Mumbai July 11 (IANS) Nearly three decades after “Bombay se aaya mera dost” became a chartbuster, Bappi Lahiri attempts to recreate the magic of the song for Akshay Kumar starrer “Chandni Chowk To China”. “See songs about Mumbai and me go back a long way. I did ‘Bombai se aaya mera dost’ so many years ago. Then recently, I did ‘Mumbai nagariya’ for Milan Luthria’s ‘Taxi No. 9211′ for Vishal-Shekhar,” Lahiri told IANS. (more…)
Disco Dancer which gave us a star Mithun Chakraborty has been compared with Jimmy. Jimmy was supposed to bring back the glory the father lived by a son which falls flat on its nose. But how can you even hypothetically compare two different films, I agree that the background does look like a lot of the 1980s cliché film but that doesn’t make Jimmy anything like Disco Dancer. The film’s director seems to be still waking up at a certain day in1980s and has nothing to do with the year being 2008. Mithun who has loads of experience in the industry should have guided his son when the star kid decided to take up this offer. Now, it is only fair to say that Jimmy was not the right launch pad for Mimoh Chakraborty. (more…)

Bollywood’s favorite hero Shah Rukh Khan has been selected by the French government for the prestigious Arts et des Lettres (Order of the Arts and Literature) award for his ‘exceptional career’.
