The social awakening about the morbid lives of devdasis has been explored in many serials and documentary films and even some films that have not really captured any fancy. Pranali or the journey of a devdasi fails to impress you firstly because it doesn’t really speak about a journey, the growth is only timid and you wonder whether it the story or a woman or the investigation into a bad social tradition. (Photos) Nargis Bagheri was on the sets of film Pranali at Madh Fort on Feb 16th 2008. She was shooting for a dance with help of Pandit Birju Mahraj. Pranali is the story of a girl born in a small village on the border of Karnataka & Maharashtra, a girl whose childhood is yet untouched and full of pure innocence but she still falls prey to one of the unconventional and downtrodden systems of our society; a stigma of being a “Devdasi”.
