PIDA loses to Jodhaa Akbar

People In Defence of Animals (PIDA) had filed a public interest litigation against Ashutosh, Ronnie, Hrithik and Aishwarya in the Mumbai High Court. PIDA alleged that during the shooting of the film, several animals were ill treated and due to this they perished. (more…)

(Photos) Hrithik Roshan, Poonam Sinha, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Pradeep Hirani, Ila Arun, Ishita Arun, Zeba Kohli, Suneeta Menon were present at Neeta Lulla’s store in Khar on March 1st 2008. Bracing an opulaent spirit, the regal evening also saw the grandeur sets of the film revived by the noted designed from the film, Nitin Desai while chocolates from Zeba Kohli have also been specially crafted in tandem with aura or royalty associated with film. Jodhaa Akbar creates a record

In just about 10 days of release worldwide, Jodhaa Akbar grossed Rs. 74 crores.. a record for a Indian film. In India it grossed Rs. 52.7 crores.. a biggest openings ever in Indian cinema. In Us, $2.5 million, in UK, GBP 700,000; Gulf, USD 800,000; Australia, USD 286,906 and USD 380,000 rest. Jodhaa Akbar would also released in regional languages… starting with Telugu and Tamil, expected to be released on 6th of March. (more…)

Vaishyas have charged the filmmaker that he has not taken note of the existence of Hemu, the warrior-ruler who not only went on a spree of conquests over Mughals but also ascended to Delhi’s throne in 1556 under the name Vikramaditya. Many are marching protests against Ashutosh’s Jodhaa Akbar in Gurgaon, Ahmedabad, Patna etc. The heat of the ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ protests in Rajasthan hit Sunday crowds in the rest of the country as the Rajput community stepped up protests against “distortion of history” in the Mughal period drama. Jodhaa Akbar Movie Review
Glorious, extravagant and simply awesome is what you feel when you see the movie ‘Jodhaa Akbar’! It was the most fervently awaited films in 2007-08. An Ashutosh Gowariker movie that had much to say in the trailers has definitely something to show. Ashutosh Gowariker has managed pretty well to give us an imperial treat this time. He has given two more surprise packs like ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Swadesh’. He also proved his understanding of the very sensitive historical issues. He seems to not mind the rave reviews and attacks that he received on his movie, rather, he has made his point clear. History can have different faces to show, it all depends on you to like or dislike it. (more…)
