Hema Serdesai is all set to rock the universe with her latest album “Jhoom”

Hema SerdesaiRecently Hema Serdesai was in Delhi to promote her new album ‘Jhoom’ rock the universe. This youthful and stirring album, ‘Jhoom’ is a strong and unique album, the first of its kind, meant to truly ‘Rock the Universe’ by Tips Music. Hema dedicated her latest album to her Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji on his birth day.


Hema Serdesai is loved for her hit songs like ‘Mein Kudi Anjaani’, ‘Ishq Chandi Hai Ishq Sona Hai’, ‘Janam Samjha Karo’, ‘Jungle Hai Adhi Raat Hai’, ‘Apun Bola’etc. by listeners. Hema rendered her voice in super hit albums ‘Hindustani Gudiya’, ‘Piya Se Milke Aaye Nain’ and ‘Sajnaa’. Her most recent applauded song is ‘Chori Chori’ in Garam Masala.

Hema says “Jhoom is the most fashionable groove to modern Spirituality. The whole album rocks with pure, intense and unexplored energy in a manner as never before”.

Album Jhoom consists of 10 songs based on genres such as Rock, Sufi, Folk, Qawwali, Waltz, Ballad, Lounge, Party and Ramp based on World Music. Song “Power of Life” is a Rock song especially composed for the International AOL Woman’s conference ’07. With powerful vocals, it sings praises of the reality of womanhood like never before. “Shiv Shambho”is again a Rock Song, “Maula Ali” is an intense Sufi, “Dum Dum” is a strong song based on modern Sufi Punjabi Folk Music, “Gopaala” is a soul stirring call to the heavens, “Durge Maa” is a loving plea with today’s foot tapping rhythms, “River of Joy” is a waltz, “Mast Kalander” is the modern folk & “Jhoom” is today’s Qawali style.

Hema came up with the slogan ‘Save the Girl Child’ in this album. She has sung and also composed six songs in this album and written lyrics of all songs herself. Sunny Ali (Based in Hong Kong) has composed and written some of the songs in the album while Hyacinth D’Souza has designed the music arrangement.

For the first time, this album brought religions Hinduism, Islam, Christianity and Buddhism together. All the 10 songs certainly rock the soul as it is dedicated especially to Hema’s beloved Guru ‘Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji Art of Living Foundation’, wherein even her personal fee for the album will go towards charity.

‘Hai Re Hai Re’ for film Khushi, ‘Eli Re Eli’ for Yaadein, ‘Awaara Bhavaren’ (Sapnay), ‘Tere Sang Ek Simple Si Coffee’ for Zameen, the ever popular ‘Duma Dum Mast Kalander’ but the closing number is the Sufiana songs, ‘Mera Yaar Milade’, ‘Dildar Milade’ etc are hits of Hema to name a few..
